Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the BillHawk iOS application ("the App"), published by Bulpara Inc ("we", "us", "our"). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms.

1. What BillHawk is — and is not

BillHawk uses artificial intelligence to explain US medical bills in plain English: what you're being charged for, charge patterns worth questioning (each tied to the bill's own text), and drafts of letters you can send in your own name.

BillHawk does not provide medical, legal, or financial advice, and it is not a bill negotiation service, insurance company, or healthcare provider. Findings are framed as questions worth asking — BillHawk does not declare that a charge is an error, does not state amounts you are owed, and does not promise savings. Billing questions are resolved by you and your provider or insurer; for consequential decisions, consult a qualified professional (a patient advocate, attorney, or your insurer).

2. AI accuracy

Audits are generated by an AI model. We ground every finding in the bill's own text and mechanically verify both the quoted line and the dollar amount, but AI can make mistakes, miss issues, or mischaracterize charges. Findings marked "Unverified" could not be matched to the document exactly and should be treated as leads, not facts. You are responsible for verifying anything you rely on before acting on it.

3. Letters

Letters (itemized-bill requests, billing-office inquiries, dispute-preparation notes) are drafts you send in your own name. Review them, fill in the bracketed fields, and confirm the facts before sending. BillHawk does not send letters, file disputes (including federal patient-provider dispute resolution filings), or communicate with providers or insurers on your behalf.

4. Your content

You keep all rights to documents you upload. You grant us (and our AI provider, Anthropic) the limited right to process them solely to provide the service. You promise you have the right to upload what you upload — only submit bills and insurance documents for your own care or care you lawfully manage. Documents are deleted from our systems within 24 hours (see the Privacy Policy).

5. Acceptable use

Don't attempt to break, overload, reverse-engineer, or abuse the service; don't use it to violate the law; don't resell access; don't try to circumvent the free-tier limits or extract the underlying model.

6. Subscriptions

Premium is an auto-renewing subscription ($9.99/month, or $59.99/year with a 7-day free trial) billed through your Apple ID. It renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends; manage or cancel in your App Store account settings. Fair use applies (currently about 12 full audits per month; follow-up questions and letters on audited bills are unlimited). Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period. Refunds are handled by Apple per its policies.

7. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, including any warranty that an audit will identify billing errors or reduce what you owe. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, or your non-waivable consumer rights.

8. Termination

You can stop using BillHawk at any time; deleting the app removes your local data. We may suspend or terminate access for abuse of these Terms.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

10. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws provisions. Nothing in these Terms limits any non-waivable consumer rights you have under the laws of your place of residence.
